According to the National Fire Protection Association, nearly 17,000 home dryer fires are reported each year. These fires cause around 51 deaths, 380 injuries, and $236 million in property loss. Unsurprisingly, the leading cause of these fires is the failure to clean dryer vents! A dryer works by pushing out hot, moist air so your clothes can dry. If your dryer vent to the outside becomes blocked by lint, the air will not be able to expell moisture like it was designed to.
